Stage 8 - Route and Prediction - 2010 Tour de France

The route for today's stage is going 189KM through the mountains. It starts in Station Des Roussess and goes to Morzine-Avoriaz. These mountains (alpes) are at the edge of Switzerland and Germany on the easternmost part of France. The Tour is going in a clockwise route this year (it alternates each year) and therefore will go through the Alpes first and then the Pyrenees in the later stages of the race.

Many big climbs today and probably a lot of aggression. I suspect there will be crashes, few breaks until the second or third climb, and a total shuffle of the field.

The smart money today is on Contador to attack and break free. I think that Cadel Evans is still strong enough to get into an early break and stay away. I would enjoy seeing Lance tail Cadel into that break and do the same to put some time into the field.

Updates during the stage are coming. As will be the recap at the end. Enjoy!
